Haru’s face is close, and he looks up at Yuki with eyes deeper than the sea. 

“Can I kiss you?” he asks.

Yuki stares back at him, wordlessly. The question had come unexpectedly, and he doesn’t even know where Haru had learned about kissing in the first place. He wonders if the alien even knows the significance of the act.

Haru is looking at him intently, waiting for an answer, and under the steady gaze of his friend, he feels self-conscious. He’s a little tense, a little breathless, on the verge of panic but not quite. His non-response is not a discouragement, and when he registers Haru’s eyes dropping slightly (to his lips), it’s one of the most nerve-wracking, most tantalizing moments of his life.
